Ministry Of Acolytes

Daughters of the King

The Daughters of the King is an Order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church, or churches in communion with it, or churches who are in the Historic Episcopate. Members undertake a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service. By reaffirmation of the promises made at Confirmation, a Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ's Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish.Meetings are once a month. Please go to the church calendar for a schedule for the next meeting. To learn more about the Daughters of the King - click here for the National Website. You may also contact Edith Newbold, our parish contact.

Cursillo

Cursillo is a three-day weekend beginning on Thursday evening and ending Sunday evening. Cursillo means "a short course" in Christianity. During the three days, those attending listen to talks given by various people, both lay and ordained, on the subjects of ideals, grace, obstacles to grace, piety, study, action, and more. The talks lead to lively small group discussion and activities. The weekend is filled with spirit as participants learn, pray, share, sing, laugh and live together as a Christian community in action. Cursillo weekends are held separately for men and women, and are usually scheduled once a year, in the fall. The weekends are held at the Duncan Conference Center.

Those who have attended a weekend (including our Cursillo Parish Contact, Jenny Williams) would love to tell you more.

Altar Guild

Under the direction of our pastor, members of the Altar Guild care for holy vessels, linens and other articles used for church services. In addition to performing their Sunday morning duties, the Altar Guild assists with weddings, funerals and baptisms. Beautiful altar flowers are scheduled, ordered and arranged weekly. For more information about this ministry, please contact our Altar Guild Director, Mrs. Priscilla Nielly.

Lay Eucharistic Minsters

Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) are licensed by the Bishop and assist the Clergy in administering the sacrament during the service. Our LEMs: Thomas Dorsett, Maceo Brown, Yvonne Rella, Helena Paris, and John Saunders.    If you would like to know more about this ministry, please contact Mr. Thomas Dorsett.

Stewardship

.
Stewardship has been called the most important work of the church. What we do with the time, ability and financial resources under our care shapes our discipleship and models our beliefs for others to see. As we live in a materially abundant society, how we handle stewardship affects many people around the world. When we share with grateful hearts and open hands, we join in building community based on faithful stewardship and love for one another. The scriptures proclaim that God loves a cheerful giver. The joy of sharing is one of the gifts of compassionate stewardship.  This is a great ministry under the leadership of Sharon Dames. Please contact Sharon for more information on the Stewardship Ministry.

Adult Bible Study

Picture
Adult Bible Study is available every Sunday prior to the start of Mass.  under the direction of Alice Cooper, bible study begins at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 8:45 a.m.

Sunday School

Under the leadership of Darlene Crawford, St. Anne's offers Sunday School during Mass.  The affectionate reply of “good morning Father Warner” can be heard every Sunday as the “dear little ones” have taken on a special role in our church life.

Episcopal Church Women

The Episcopal Church Women is an organization within the Church which unites all women through worship, service, study and fellowship. Each woman of St. Anne's Episcopal Church is a member of ECW and is welcome to participate in any or all of its programs.

Because of its many fundraising efforts, ECW is able to contribute to various outreach programs and programs within our church. To learn more about the Episcopal Church Women - click here for the National Website. You may also contact our ECW President, Darlene Crawford.

Episcopal Church Men

The Men of the Church meet on the first Sunday of each month. All men are invited. ECM Officers are: President John Saunders, Vice President, Bernard Dorsett, Treasurer, James Newbold, Secretary Maceo Brown.

Coffee Hour

The kitchen crew at St. Anne does a wonderful job preparing more than coffee and cake but rather a full breakfast.  Come and fellowship with us every Sunday immediately after Mass as we enjoy the best boiled fish and grits in town!  For more information on this ministry, please contact our kitchen coordinator, Nena Floyd.

Outreach

Food Pantry

Through our partnership with the Jubliee Center, the St. Anne's Food Pandry is open on the every third Saturday of each month.  The Food Pantry is open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. in the parish hall.  Approximately fifty bags of grocery are made available monthly to the community and members.

Jubilee  Center
The Jubilee Center* takes its name from the Biblical Year of Jubilee in Leviticus - the great year of social justice. It began with the blowing of the ram's horn trumpet (the jubal) and the cry, “proclaim liberty throughout the land and to all its people!” In late 1995, members of St. John’s along with members of four other congregations - St. James in The Hills, St. Andrew’s, and St. Anne’s - formed The Jubilee Center of South Broward, Inc., in order to expand service to the poor and homeless of southern Broward County. The Center, a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Florida, is run by a Board of Directors composed of members of the four congregations as well as representatives of the client community.  Our Parish Representatives to the Jubliee Center are: Peggy Deleveaux, Harold Robinson, Johns Saunders and Aldwyn Thomas.

United Thank Offering

The United Thank Offering is gathered twice a year. Episcopal churchwomen throughout the Anglican communion have UTO boxes into which they place offerings of Thanksgiving in their daily lives. These offerings are presented corporately during a Thanksgiving service at the General Convention.  Please contact Mrs. Justine Dorsett for more information on this outreach ministry.

Usher Guild

The ministry of Ushers in the Church is a ministry of hosting the parish family and all who visit to worship with the family here at St. Anne's.  The Church is Our Father’s House and ushers are the representatives of God and our parish family to all who enter our doors.  The Benedictine’s have a rule which is usually posted over the entrance door of their monasteries which says “Greet each person as if he were Christ”.  A good rule for ushers in parish churches as well.  Greet each person with a smile and a verbal “Welcome!”  Provide each with a bulletin, hymnal and/or other appropriate worship materials.  Provide help to the elderly, handicapped or anyone who may need it. For more information on this ministry, please contact Mr. Alan McKinney, our Chief Usher.
